Where Is Your E-Bike Speed Sensor?
Before choosing the right EPAspeed Box, it's crucial to know your e-bike speed sensor location — because the speed sensor type determines compatibility.

We identify two common setups:
Chain stay-mounted sensors and integrated dropout sensors.

Sensor on the Chain Stay (with magnet on the wheel spoke)
If you see a magnet on the wheel spoke and a visible sensor mounted on the chain stay, your bike uses the classic external sensor setup. This is common on older and some new e-bikes.

Integrated Sensor at the Dropout (with Disc Magnet)
If there’s no spoke magnet, your speed sensor is likely built into the dropout and works with a magnet on the brake disc. This hidden setup is common on newer e-bikes.

- For this setup, remove the rear wheel to access and confirm the sensor placement.
Then select the EPAspeed Box for Dropout sensors.
