EPAspeed Tuning for Mahle Ebike Motion X35 and X35+
The EPAspeed is compatible with all hub motors with a 9-pin connection that have a speed sensor integrated into the motor, such as the Mahle X35 or X35+ which are also known as the Ebike Motion X35 and X35+. The tuning is installed directly on the cable that connects the hub engine to the e-bike battery, which run along the chain stay.

How the EPAspeed Mahle works?
Once the EPAspeed tuning is installed the tuning is always active. The travelled speed is displayed as halved. If your e-bike is equipped with a display or you use the Ebike Motion App then you can ride knowing that the speed even if halved is always accurate. Therefore, there is no need for an additional GPS to track the correct values of your rides.
Once the tuning is removed the bicycle automatically reset to the original pre-tuning settings.
Important: Due to the constructive characteristics of the hub motor with the speed sensor integrated into the hub motor it is difficult to predict the maximum derestricted speed allowed. Theoretically, speeds of up to 40 km/h are possible but in reality speeds of up to 30 km/h are within the tolerance range. This is due to the fact that it is a hub motor with 40 Nm of torque which quickly reaches its limits. If the tuning does not allow for higher speeds, this is not caused by the tuning itself but instead it is related to the limitations of the motor, battery and their firmware.

L’unico problema ? che il motore X35 entra in protezione con pendenze e quindi basse velocit?, quindi eroga meno potenza gi? in queste condizioni senza l’EPA Speed. Il problema ? di molto accentuato quando installato e in salita la potenza erogata di dimezza. A prove fatte. Con una pendenza al 10% a 7 km/h(con 100% di motore) la potenza erogata ? intorno ai 100w invece che 250w( senza EPA speed e motore in protezione). Con EPA installato nelle stesse condizioni erogava circa 30w considerando che la mia compagna non riusciva a Tenere la velocit? suddetta il motore andava ancora pi? in protezione, quindi, in questi casi di percorsi misti pianura e salite dure servirebbe la possibilit? di disinserimento del sistema EPA Speed

Rode bike for the first time 13/01/25 disappointed, no power at all, removed the tuner, reconnected original worked fine, refitted new tuner still no power, checked connections everything as it should be, feel imhave wasted my money, tried to contact this supplier, seems very good at ignoring messages, that to me says it all really. Would I recommend! At the moment No. will try again today should it work I will,review again.

I had a similar issue as the earlier review (Alan) but Paul at Ebikeparts was very helpful and very responsive to my query. The connections are reassuringly tight it, but once firmly installed the unit works fine. Ill leave a further review once fully road tested over a good distance

I ordered one and installed it properly. Support was increased to ca. 30km/h, but the power of te motor was reduced at the same time by ca. 50%, which does not make it usefull anylonger as the X35 is already a light assist motor.
I returned the product on my own costs to Bulgaria for 20 and was charged an additional handling fee of 20 by the seller for the return.
Worst experience for a non functioning product.

the tuning chip doesn’t fullfill the advertised boost. After I installed it in my Orbea Gain Bike the support increased from 25 km/h up to 28 km/h.
=> It was mentioned that support will be available minimum up to 30km/h. This is not true.
For this low increase it is not worth to ride an “illegal bike” due to the tuning chip.

I received the unit fitted it but it would not work. After contacting EPASpeed I tried the device again and reported a second failure. By return a new unit had been dispatched and now they have a very happy customer. All this was done at their expense, excellent after sales service.

Das Tuning Kit funktioniert ganz gut ab und zu ruckelt der Motor. Das liegt aber wahrscheinlich daran, dass mein Motor nicht auf der Liste stand, f?r die das Tuning Kit geeignet ist. Trotz alledem l?uft das Fahrrad circa f?nf KMH schneller.

Le module est simple à installer. Il y un peu moins d’assistance lors des forts dénivelés mais la coupure désagréable à 25kmh/h disparaît. Le fonctionnement moteur me parait globalement plus efficace après installation.
