EPAspeed Box – Installation Guide
⚠️ Important
- Keep the bike’s engine TURNED OFF during installation.
This prevents unwanted electromagnetic interference.
Step 1 – Prepare the Device
1. Insert the battery into the EPAspeed Box.
2. Wait 30 seconds to allow the box to recalibrate itself.
Step 2 – Relocate the Bosch Slim Sensor
The Bosch Slim Sensor may be mounted either on the chainstay or integrated into the dropout.
A. Speed Sensor on the Chainstay
1. Open the speed sensor chainstay casing and carefully extract the speed sensor.
2. Unscrew and remove the sensor housing from the chainstay.

B. Speed Sensor on the Rear Axle
1. Remove the rear wheel.
2. Unscrew and remove the speed sensor from the dropout.

Step 3 – Install the EPAspeed Box & Magnet
1. Insert the speed sensor into the EPAspeed Box locking port.
2. Position the EPAspeed Box along the chainstay.
3. Secure the box loosely with zip ties for now (final tightening will be done later).
4. Mount the magnet onto the wheel spoke and align it with the edge of the EPAspeed Box.
5. Ensure the magnet and box are positioned as shown in the illustration below.

Important Notes on Magnet Alignment
Due to the wide range of chainstay geometries across MTB, gravel, road, and urban bikes, correct magnet alignment is essential for proper operation.
The EPAspeed Box functions correctly only when distance and alignment are within specification:
• Too close, too far, or misaligned → the box will not function.
• Chainstay geometry can affect clearance, especially on gravel or road bikes.
If the Magnet Is Too Close to the Box
1. Twist the magnet 90° so the surface faces upward or downward — this provides additional clearance.
2. Relocate the EPAspeed Box along the chainstay and adjust the magnet position to achieve correct communication between the box and magnet, independent of the factory position.
If the Magnet Is Too Far from the Box
1. Use the original Bosch spacer adapter to bridge the distance between the box and magnet.
2. Relocate the EPAspeed Box along the chainstay and adjust the magnet position as needed to maintain proper communication between components.
Step 4 – Test the Installation
1. Turn on the e-bike engine.
2. Wait a few seconds.
3. Rotate the wheel several turns.
If the display shows a speed reading, the device is functioning correctly.
Note: Once proper operation is confirmed, fully tighten the zip ties to secure the EPAspeed Box in place.
Returns Policy
• All returned EPAspeed Boxes are tested with a diagnostic tool.
• In most cases, returned boxes are found to be in perfect working order.
• Before requesting a replacement, ensure all steps have been followed correctly.
• Always verify that the battery is not the cause of malfunction before returning the unit.
