Bafang is an active and successful Chinese company that manufactures full systems and components for e-bikes. Bafang engines are considered to be relatively inexpensive and easy to install and for this reason they are often used in e-bike retrofit kits. The Bafang Max Drive, was presented for the first time in early 2015 and created immediate interest in the ebike industry due to the high performance of the engine. The Max Drive System delivers 80 Nm of torque which provides a very powerful support especially for off-road use. Compared to the previous Bafang e-bike drives, the design of the Max Drive System looks much more modern and tidy. A real specialty of this drive is the double bottom bracket sensor, one for each crank, which enables the so called zero cadence reactions of the motor, as is known from the successful Bosch Performance Line drives.
