The MAHLE Ebikemotion X35 engines are designed specifically for e-road bike. The innovative Ebikemotion X35 engine is a hub engine with only 40Nm of torque. In contrast to the conventional engines that provides assistance based on cadence or power input the Ebikemotion X35 outputs power based on how quickly the cassette is turning relative to the hub. This design means the Ebikemotion X35 drive can be tricked into riding with basically no input from the rider. As long as you keep the cassette and hub turning together, the motor continues to push forward – there’s no torque sensor to detect your lack of pedalling input as the system operates based on the speed of your cassette in relation to how quickly the wheel is turning.
In 2022, Mahle released the new EbikeMotion X20 drive unit following the foot steps of other manufacturers developoing a more powerful and lighter engine. In fact, the EbikeMotion X20 motor delivers a torque of 60Nm (50% more torque than the X35 motor) and weights only 3.2 kg (10% lighter than the X35 motor).
There aren’t many tunings available in today market to derestrict the X35. Here the SpeedFun does really do a good job for its quality of built and for its slim feature.
NOTE: The Ebike Motion X35 motor is a hub motor. Hub motors are sealed units with all the electronics sealed inside the motor. Due to the motor configuration, it is almost impossible for tuning developers to access the motor software and thus manipulate the software information. It is for this reason, that the maximum derestricted speed can only be increased by 15-20%

As for today, no tuning manufacturer has developed a tuning device for the Ebike Motion X20 motor.. but I can assure that they must be currently working on it..so if you are waiting to get your Ebike Motion X20 engine derestricted just subscribe to our Facebook blog or our Newsletter for updates on the release date.
