EPASPEED 1.0 B.TUNING FOR BOSCH – INSTALLATION GUIDE

Important:

•    Keep the bike’s engine TURNED OFF during installation.
•    Remove the battery form the e-bike according to the manufacturer manual

STEP 1 – Preparation for Installation
Before beginning the installation, ensure you have the following tools ready:

Required Tools:
- T20 Torx screwdriver
- Needle-nose pliers

Additional Tools (if crank arm removal is necessary):
- Crank puller
- 22 mm wrench
-  H8 hex key

Pre-installation Steps:
•    Switch OFF the e-bike.
•    Remove the battery from the e-bike following the manufacturer's instructions.

STEP 2 – Removal of the crank
Crank Arm Removal Procedure – left Side

1. Loosen the Crank Arm Bolt
Using an H8 hex key, remove the bolt securing the left crank arm.
2. Prepare the Crank Puller Tool
Before threading the crank puller into the crank arm, ensure the puller’s internal bolt (“pressure pin”) is fully retracted by unscrewing it from the outer body (“nut”).
This step is critical to avoid damaging or stripping the threads in the crank arm.
3. Install the Crank Puller
Thread the outer body of the crank puller fully into the crank arm by hand, then gently tighten to secure it in place.
4. Extract the Crank Arm
Using a 22 mm wrench, turn the crank puller’s pressure bolt clockwise. Continue tightening until the crank arm disengages from the motor spindle.
5. Remove the Crank Arm
Once fully released, slide the crank arm off the motor’s central axle.

STEP 3 – engine cover removal

-    Unscrew all the bolts of the engine cover
-    Remove the engine cover

STEP 4 - Disconnecting Connectors from the Motor

1. Disconnect the Display Connector
Using a pair of pliers, carefully grasp and pull the display connector straight out from the motor housing.
Do not twist or bend the connector during removal to avoid damage to the pins.

2. Disconnect the Speed Sensor Connector
In the same manner, disconnect the speed sensor connector by gently pulling it away from the motor using pliers.
Ensure a firm grip on the connector housing — avoid pulling on the cable itself.

STEP 5 – Installing the EPAspeed Tuning Module

1. Connect the EPAspeed Module
Replace the original motor connectors with the corresponding EPAspeed connectors.
2. Attach the Display Connectors
Plug the e-bike connectors (previously disconnected from the motor in Step 4) into the matching connectors on the EPAspeed
Ensure each connector is fully inserted and that the locking tabs are properly engaged.
3. Verify Wiring Configuration
Before reassembling the motor, visually inspect the wiring to confirm that all connections are correct and match the configuration shown in the reference diagram.

STEP 6: Verifying Tuning Functionality

1. Reinsert the battery into the e-bike.
2. Power ON the e-bike system.
3. Manually rotate the rear wheel and check the e-bike display to ensure speed is being detected and displayed. The EPAspeed is set by default to 50 kmh.
4. Once the tuning function is confirmed, follow the next steps below:

Pairing the EPAspeed with the EPAspeed App
1. Install the EPAspeed App
Download and install the EPAspeed App from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
2. Enable Bluetooth
Activate Bluetooth on your mobile device.
3. Launch the App
Open the EPAspeed App
4. Connect to the Device
In the list of available devices, select the address in bold characters.
o    If the device does not appear verify the following:
      - The e-bike is switched ON.
      - Your mobile device is within 5 meters of the e-bike.
      - Bluetooth is enabled on your phone.

5. App Functionality
Once paired, you can use the app to:
    - Control tuning functions
    - Monitor ride data
    - Adjust the speed limit and other settings

STEP 7 – Positioning the Tuning Module for Optimal Bluetooth Signal

1. Position the Module Correctly
Ensure the module is installed with the Bluetooth logo facing outward, away from the engine. This orientation improves signal strength and ensures optimal wireless connectivity.

2. Ensure the module is not obstructed by metal components or enclosed within the frame.

STEP 8 – Reinstalling the Motor Cover

1. Position the EPAspeed module and all connected wiring neatly into the available space inside the motor compartment.
2. Ensure that the EPAspeed module is oriented with the Bluetooth logo facing outward for optimal signal strength.
3. Refit the motor cover to its original mounting position.
4. Secure the cover using the appropriate screws and tighten them evenly.

STEP 9 – Reinstalling the Crank Arm
1. If the crank arm was removed in Step 2, proceed with reinstallation.
2. Use a 22 mm wrench to remove the crank puller from the crank arm.
3. Align and place the crank arm onto the central axis of the motor.
4. Insert the crank bolt and tighten it securely using an H8 hex key.
