The badassBox 4 runs on an AAA battery. You can get a replacement for the supplied battery cheaply and literally at every corner. The integrated Shimano sensor is located in the area of the fork-end.
To access the sensor you will need to remove the rear wheel.
Find the position of the integrated sensor in the fork-end of your e-Bike and loosen the screws that secure the sensor.
Place the sensor in the recess provided on the badassBox.
Attach the sensor to the badassBox using the cylinder head screw provided (you will need a 2 mm Allen key for this). Now you can mount the badassBox together with the sensor by means of cable ties (included) to the chainstay mount.
For initial installation, the supplied spoke magnet must be mounted instead of the original magnet. Our spoke magnet works identically to the original magnet without badassBox, but with badassBox mounted, it is necessary for the function with our patented field amplification.
The spoke magnet must be aligned next to the badassBox. To check the position of the magnet on the bike when it is stationary, lift the rear of the bike, turn the rear wheel (not the cranks!) and let it run. Pay attention to the speedometer or App of your bike. The indicated speed should be steady and slowly drop off as the rear wheel rolls out.
If the spoke magnet touches the badassBox, the spoke magnet must be placed as close as possible to the badassBox and turned 90°. be rotated. Done!
HOW THE BADASSBOX WORKS
The contactless and wireless badassBox transmits a modified signal in order to override the speed limit of your e-bike – without interfering with the motor's electronic circuitry or software. There's no need to open the motor and there is no risk of damaging it. The badassBox can be fitted in seconds – and just as quickly removed, restoring your e-bike to its former road-legal condition.
For all these advantages, a wrong speed, and values derived from it, are displayed. We recommend the use of GPS-related accessories for a more precise data acquisition of driving data (smartphone, bike computer, etc.)
