You’ve just unlocked a powerful, firmware-resistant tuning solution with advanced Bluetooth functionality.

•    Keep the bike’s engine TURNED OFF during installation. 

•    Remove the battery form the e-bike according to the manufacturer manual 

Prepare the following tools before starting the installation process (required tools may vary depending on the e-bike model).

- Cutting Pliers 

-  Hex Key H3 

- Torx Screwdriver T40 

•    Switch OFF the e-bike.

•    Remove the battery from the e-bike following the manufacturer's instructions.

-    Using the H3 hex key, unscrew the motor cover fixing screws

-    Remove the engine cover

Disconnect all connectors from the motor ports and remove any cable ties securing the wiring.

The large battery cable connector (marked with a green arrow) is equipped with a locking mechanism. To disconnect it, press the side locking tab on the connector and then carefully pull the connector out.

All remaining connectors can be disconnected by gently pulling them out of their sockets.

The number of connectors may vary depending on the e-bike model and equipment configuration. All connectors are coded to prevent incorrect reconnection during reassembly. In addition, the connectors and corresponding sockets are color-coded to assist with proper identification and installation.

1. Using the T40 Torx screwdriver, loosen the two screws securing the motor to the bike frame - Support the motor from below with one hand to prevent it from dropping out of the frame.  

2. Partially remove the upper screw while fully removing the lower screw from the frame.

3. Carefully tilt and lower the motor to gain access without fully removing it from the bike frame.

⚠️  If your bike frame design does not allow the motor to be tilted downward, the motor will need to be completely removed from the frame.

2. Completely remove both the upper and lower screws while supporting the motor to prevent it from falling out of the frame.

3. Carefully remove the motor from the frame, ensuring that no cables or wires obstruct the removal process in order to avoid damaging them.

The electromagnet must be positioned against the motor, as shown in the image below. Ensure that the electromagnet fits perfectly onto the motor housing with no gap or space remaining between the electromagnet and the motor.

1. Use the metal mounting bracket to secure the electromagnet in place. First, hook the edge of the bracket into the motor housing hole (green arrow). Then lower the bracket into the side groove of the electromagnet and secure the opposite end of the bracket around the lower motor bolt (yellow arrows)

1. Carefully reposition the motor with the Rim Magnet Simulator back into the e-bike frame and insert the motor fastening screws, ensuring that no cables or wires are obstructing the installation or trapped between the motor and the frame.

2. Using the T40 Torx screwdriver, securely tighten both motor mounting screws to fasten the motor to the frame. 

3. Reinstall the chain onto the chainring.

STEP 6 - EPAspeed Tuning Device Installation Guide

Connect the tuning module by plugging one connector of the tuning into the motor and the other into the EPAspeed connector. Finally, reconnect all remaining connectors to the motor ports. Firmly push each connector into its corresponding socket until you feel and hear it click securely into place.

Remove the original Rim Magnet from the rear wheel valve and keep it aside for later reinstallation. 

 

1. Clean the inner side of the chainstay using a wet wipe to ensure proper adhesion of the speed sensor cable. 

2. Using the supplied adapter kit, select and combine the various thickness spacers as required to position the speed sensor closer to the magnet (see below for the correct distance and position).

3. Once the correct distance and alignment between the speed sensor and the magnet have been achieved, use the supplied double-sided tape to attach the speed sensor to the cleaned inner side of the chainstay. Ensure that the connector end of the cable is routed toward the motor.

4. Secure the speed sensor firmly in place using two plastic cable ties. Trim any excess cable tie material using side cutting pliers. 

5. Attach the magnet to one of the rear wheel spokes. Position the magnet with the magnetic side facing the centre of the speed sensor. 

6. Check and adjust the alignment between the speed sensor and the magnet to ensure correct positioning and proper operation. 

7. Secure the speed sensor cable to the inner side of the chainstay closer to the motor using an additional plastic cable tie. This prevents the cable from coming into contact with the rotating rear wheel and pedal. Trim any excess cable tie material using side cutting pliers. 

1. Reinsert the battery into the e-bike.

2. Power ON the e-bike system.

3. Manually rotate the rear wheel and check the e-bike display to ensure speed is being detected and displayed. The EPAspeed is set by default to 50 kmh.

4. Once the tuning function is confirmed, follow the next steps below:

1. Install the EPAspeed App

Download and install the EPAspeed App from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.

2. Enable Bluetooth

Activate Bluetooth on your mobile device.

3. Launch the App

Open the EPAspeed App

4. Connect to the Device

In the list of available devices, select the address in bold characters.

o    If the device does not appear verify the following:

      - The e-bike is switched ON.

      - Your mobile device is within 5 meters of the e-bike.

      - Bluetooth is enabled on your phone.

5. App Functionality

Once paired, you can use the app to:

    - Control tuning functions

    - Monitor ride data

    - Adjust the speed limit and other settings

 

1. Position the Module Correctly

Ensure the module is installed with the Bluetooth logo facing outward, away from the engine. This orientation improves signal strength and ensures optimal wireless connectivity.

2. Ensure the module is not obstructed by metal components or enclosed within the frame.

1. Carefully position the EPAspeed device together with all connectors and motor wiring into the available free space around the motor. If required, use the supplied zip tie to bundle the wires neatly and help secure the device in place.

2. Ensure that the EPAspeed module is oriented with the Bluetooth logo facing outward for optimal signal strength.

3. Refit the motor cover to its original mounting position.

4. Secure the cover using the appropriate screws and tighten them evenly.
