EPAspeed Box – Installation Guide

Important:

- Keep the bike’s engine TURNED OFF during installation.
    This prevents unwanted electromagnetic interference.

Step 1 – Prepare the Device
•    Insert the battery into the EPAspeed Box.
•    Wait 30 seconds to allow the box to recalibrate itself.

Step 2 – Install the EPAspeed Box & Magnet
1. Slide the EPAspeed Box over the speed sensor.
2. Mount the magnet onto the wheel spoke.
3. Align the magnet as shown in the image below.

With the magnet positioned along the edge of the EPAspeed Box, measure the distance between the two components.
The correct tolerance between the box and the magnet should be 4–8 mm.

If necessary, use the Dropout Kit to fine-tune the distance and achieve the required tolerance.
The supplied Dropout Kit can also be used to relocate the sensor up or down the swing arm, allowing precise adjustment of the magnet-to-box distance.

Important Notes on Magnet Alignment
Because of the wide range of chain-stay geometries found on MTB, gravel, road, and urban bikes, correct positioning is essential for proper operation.

The EPAspeed Box only functions when distance and alignment are correct:
•    Too close, too far, or misaligned → the box will not function.
•    Chain-stay geometry may affect clearance (especially on gravel or road bikes).

If the magnet is too close to the box:
1. Twist the magnet 90° so its surface points upward or downward. This provides the extra clearance needed.
2. Use the Dropout Kit to relocate the speed sensor along the chain-stay and adjust the magnet position to achieve proper communication between the box and magnet, independent of the factory position.

If the magnet is too far from the box:
1. Use the two-stage Dropout Kit adapter to bridge the distance between the box and magnet.
2. Alternatively, use the Dropout Kit to reposition the sensor along the chain-stay and achieve the required 4–8 mm tolerance.

Step 3 – Test the Installation
•    Turn on the e-bike engine.
•    Wait a few seconds.
•    Rotate the wheel several turns.
      If the display shows a speed, the device is working correctly.

Returns Policy
•    All returned EPAspeed Boxes are tested with a diagnostic tool.
•    In most cases, returned boxes are in good working order.
•    Before requesting a replacement, ensure all steps were followed correctly.
•    Always verify that the battery is not the cause of the malfunction before returning the unit.
